‘BIRDS’ SEEK TO RESTORE PRIDE - COACH

MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows Assistant Coach Musa Mamba says they are determined to restore the club’s dignity. “We have an assignment as Mbabane Swallows, which is to ensure that the club’s dignity does not decline, especially from us as the technical team,” Mamba expressed. He assured the club’s supporters that they would not lose the ‘Y’ello’ Sunday fixture against Manzini Sea Birds, scheduled for Sunday, at the Mavuso Sports Centre.  “We are aware that many believe they can easily take all the points based on what they perceive as our challenges, but as a club, we are working diligently to get the team back on track,” Mamba said.

The Swallows assistant coach further boasted that they have conceded the least number of goals, which gives them an advantage in prioritising their scoring prowess, as they are performing well defensively. He noted that even though they are currently in fifth place, they will strive to return to their former position. “Forfeiting points against Manzini Sea Birds will hurt us because, as a coach, when preparing, you identify where you can effectively win games.

“We see this match as pivotal in the quest to regain the team’s dignity,” he added. He emphasised the significance of this task, particularly as they have lost several first-team players. Mamba concluded by conveying a message to the club’s supporters, highlighting their importance for the fixture on Sunday.  Meanwhile, Manzini Sea Birds’ Head Coach last Friday Myeni thanked the sponsor Eswatini MTN and the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE).  He further conveyed their appreciation for being part of the first ‘Y’ello’ Sunday of 2025, as such a platform allows their players to perform in front of a large audience and gain exposure to MTN’s products. Myeni noted they currently have two players on the injury list due to injuries sustained in the Last 16 of the Ingwenyama Cup. “We hope that by tomorrow (today), we will have a full squad so we can make a proper assessment ahead of Sunday’s game,” Myeni mentioned.

Moneni Pirates Head Coach, Caleb Ngwenya, who will be leading his team against Sidwashini United, expressed hope for a full-strength squad ahead of the fixture:  “We aim to achieve the results we expect and need from the match,” Ngwenya stated. On the other hand, Sidwashini United’s Goalkeeper Coach, Chicco Mayisa took the opportunity to speak for the side, mentioning their awareness of their precarious position near relegation. “The attendance and the standard from the squad have improved; I can feel it. “We are looking forward to delivering one of our best performances against Moneni Pirates,” Mayisa said.
