MBABANE – Young Buffaloes have suffered a significant blow ahead of their highly-anticipated Premier League clash against Shiselweni’s Nsingizini Hotspurs. The match, set to attract a large crowd at Mayaluka Stadium in Big Bend this Saturday at 3pm, will see Young Buffaloes Captain Sihlangu Mkhwanazi reluctantly relinquishing the captain’s armband due to a suspension stemming from the MTN Premier League’s Yellow Card Rule. Mkhwanazi is not the only one facing this setback; teammate Fanelo ‘Order’ Mamba has also been suspended for the crucial encounter.

The two players are among the latest casualties of Article 6.2(a) of the MTN Premier League Rules and Regulations, which stipulate that any player accumulating three yellow cards consecutively must serve a suspension, missing the next match for their team. Consequently, Mkhwanazi and Mamba will be watching from the sidelines as the ‘Buffs’ aim to extend their title challenge without their key players. “The player is, therefore, automatically suspended from participating in the next match to be played by his team,” states the league’s official regulations. However, it is not just Young Buffaloes who are feeling the impact of this yellow card crackdown.

Missing

Several players from other Premier League teams will also miss this weekend’s action. Green Mamba will be without Colani Dlamini, while Rangers will be missing Lelo Manana and Khayalethu Sibandze as they face Sisonkhe and Ezulwini United, respectively. Ezulwini United’s Siboniso Motsa, Sisonkhe’s Makhosi Mtsetfwa, Illovo’s Simphiwe Gina, and Madlenya’s Sehluko Nkabindze will also be sidelined due to yellow card suspensions. The ripple effect has extended beyond the Premier League, with several players from the National First Division (NFD) also caught in the suspension net. Up to 16 players have been suspended in total in both divisions. With so many key players sidelined, the weekend’s action is bound to be filled with surprises as teams are forced to adapt without their regular stars.
