SITSEBE NAME STRONG QUALIFIERS SQUAD
MBABANE – Sitsebe Head Coach Bongani Makhukhula has named a 24-player provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 TotalEnergies WAFCON Qualifiers against Namibia.
The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) confirmed that the first leg of the women’s senior national football team Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) will be hosted by Sitsebe. It will be played at Somhlolo National Stadium on February 21, 2025, with the return leg scheduled for February 26, 2025, at a venue yet to be announced. Coach Makhukhula has selected players primarily from the top five teams in the current Eswatini National Women’s Football League log charts. These are Manzini Wanderers, Young Buffaloes, Nsingizini Hotspurs, Royal Leopard and Green Mamba.
The squad features many players who were part of the team that competed in the recent Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Women’s Championship. However, notable absentees include Young Buffaloes and Sitsebe first choice goalkeeper, Gcinile Dlamini and veteran striker Celiwe ‘Cece’ Nkambule.
The winner of this qualifying round will face a challenging encounter against Zambia in the next stage of the competition before qualifying for this main tournament. Eswatini are aiming at qualifying for the WAFCON finals for the first time.
