BUILD IT SPLASHES E22K ON CHAMPS
MBABANE - “You reap what you sow.” This adage holds true for the 24 players from the Mbabane Build it Plus store group. The youngsters recently clinched victory at the 2024 Build It Under-13 National Championships held at Mavuso Sports Centre. During the official prize presentation at Sigwaca House, Build it Plus Director Akba Essa revealed that the Player of the Tournament will receive a E10 000 bursary to support their education.
“I would like to announce that the best players will receive their well-deserved award, while the other members of the champion team will each receive a E500 bursary voucher to assist with school-related expenses,” Essa stated. Accompanied by Build it Human Resources Manager Gladwill Hillary, Essa encouraged parents to submit details regarding their children, including the schools’ account and identification numbers, to facilitate direct deposits to their respective institutions. “We are building dreams for future stars. Football instils discipline and fosters a brighter future. “I congratulate the champions and, as they are from Mbabane, we are pleased to offer E500 each to them,” he remarked.
Involved
Essa expressed gratitude towards the Eswatini Football Association (EFA), parents and all stakeholders involved in the tournament. In turn, EFA Chief Executive Officer Frederick Mngomezulu thanked parents for entrusting their children to the organisation. He assured them of the establishment of a safeguarding unit dedicated to ensuring the safety of the young players. “With this unit, we aim to eliminate undesirable behaviour and create a secure environment for the players to pursue their aspirations of competing in the elite league and becoming exemplary individuals,” Mngomezulu commented.
He also announced the selection of 30 players who will form the foundation of the national team, progressing through the ranks until they reach Sihlangu. “I assure parents that this marks the beginning of the journey to Sihlangu for these players. “We aspire for them to someday compete beyond our borders and provide for their families,” he added, echoing the sponsor’s slogan, ‘Yes we can.’ Mngomezulu extended his appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister’s (DPM) Office and Eswatini football legend William ‘Cool Cat’ Shongwe for their presence at the national championships. The Player of the Tournament, Junior Sibandze’s mother, Nolwazi Dlamini, described the young athletes as ‘warriors’ and inspirations to others.
Gratitude
Speaking on behalf of the players, she expressed her gratitude towards Build it for their initiative. “It is an honour to stand here on behalf of the fathers and mothers of these sons of our soil. We are immensely grateful to Build it for this opportunity,” she stated. Dlamini congratulated the players on their achievements and acknowledged their dedication throughout the tournament. “To you youngsters, I encourage you to remember that hard work pays. “You are now warriors and role models for future generations,” she remarked, also thanking the coaches for their guidance and Build it for the bursary, which will significantly aid in covering school fees.
