NSINGIZINI COACH QUITS
MBABANE – Ambitious Premier League side Nsingizini Hotspurs and Zimbabwe-born Head Coach Alexio Sigion have parted ways after a 14-month tenure.
This was announced yesterday by the MTN Premier League club through a press statement issued by club President Derrick Shiba. “The Board has received and accepted the letter of resignation from Head Coach Alexio Sigion, effective from February 6, 2025. The club takes this opportunity to thank the head coach for his contribution to the club’s growth, which includes guiding the team to their historic participation in the 2024 CAF Confederation Cup,” Shiba said. He further noted that under the guidance of the Zimbabwean-born coach, the club finished third in the previous season, a significant improvement from the 2022/23 MTN Premier League season, where they secured sixth place. “We wish the head coach all the best in his future endeavours, and he will remain one of our ambassadors wherever he goes.

“The club will announce changes to the technical bench in due course,” the president added. Sigion was unveiled by Nsingizini on January 14, 2024, replacing Malawian-born Coach Meck Mwase. He leaves the team in third place, just one point behind the league leaders, Green Mamba. Ernest Mavuso’s side are currently at 32 points each with Royal Leopard.
Sigion is a highly experienced coach who previously served Ngezi Platinum Stars, a successful team in the Zimbabwe Premier League, where he contributed at both development and senior levels. He has an extensive coaching background in his home country, where he is renowned for his tactical expertise and ability to develop young talent.
He also played a pivotal role in the success of several clubs in Zimbabwean leagues, earning him great respect within the Zimbabwean football community. Sigion’s qualifications include holding a Confederation of African Football (CAF) A Licence, which he obtained in South Africa in 2017 under the guidance of CAF Licence Instructor and Ambassador Frans Mogashoa. In 2016, he graduated from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Youth Football course conducted by FIFA instructor Roy Millar from Northern Ireland.

Additionally, Sigion participated in the Electronic Performance Tracking System (EPTS) course, which concluded late last year. The coach terminated the call when sought for comment. It could not be immediately established who will lead the team against Sisonkhe in Nhlangano tomorrow. Notably, Nsingizini heavily rely on foreign coaches.
