NOBUHLE MISSES CUT AT LALLA MERYEM CUP
MBABANE – Eswatini’s professional golfer Nobuhle Dlamini endured a disappointing start at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco.
The Lobamba-born athlete was unable to qualify among the top 54 golfers who progressed to the final round of the Lalla Meryem Cup, held under the auspices of the Ladies European Tour in Morocco. As a result of failing to make the cut, she lost the opportunity to compete for a substantial prize, with the tournament boasting a purse of E8.5 million.
Dlamini initially showed promise in her first round; by midday on Thursday, she was positioned 30th with a live score of three under par. However, she concluded the first round with a score of par 73, placing her 39th overall. Yesterday proved equally promising, as she temporarily recorded a live score of two under par and reached 40th place.
Yet, as the round progressed, her performance faltered, culminating in a finish of four over par on position 65. This marked one of the most challenging starts to a tournament for Dlamini at the beginning of the year. Last year, despite being sidelined for nearly a year to embrace motherhood, Dlamini consistently achieved podium finishes in nearly every tournament she entered, amassing over E300 000 in earnings.
