MBABANE RAIDERS OUTSHINE OLYMPAFRICA
LOBAMBA – In an electrifying and tightly-contested match, Mbabane Raiders emerged victorious with a narrow 43-42 win, propelling them further up the log standings. The encounter was a high-stakes battle for both sides, with each team fighting fiercely for maximum points. The game saw both sides equally matched in the second and third quarters, where they were locked in a tie. However, it was the Raiders who displayed superior resilience and determination, stretching ahead to lead by a single goal in the final quarter, holding on to their slim advantage until the final whistle.
Raider’s Captain Mapitsane Nkambule, expressed immense pride and gratitude to her teammates for their relentless effort in securing the win. “The game was not easy; we fought until the very last minute, and we are over the moon that we finally came out on top. We will go back, train harder, and work on areas where we need improvement so we can return even stronger,” Nkambule said. On the other hand, OlympAfrica’s captain, Nokwanda Sukati, voiced her dissatisfaction with the team’s performance but vowed to make necessary improvements moving forward.
“We did not have our best game, but we gave it our all. We made far too many mistakes, and while we cannot change that now, we are determined to improve next time. A lack of consistent training also played a part, as some players had to skip sessions to focus on their schoolwork,” Sukati highlighted. Royal Flames proved once again why they’re a force to be reckoned with, as they cruised to an emphatic 87-32 victory over Manzini Ladies. Their dominance was evident throughout the match, leaving no doubt about their superiority. Meanwhile, Mankayane Ladies’ netball team failed to honour their fixture against Buffaloes Ladies, which was scheduled for Saturday. As a result, Mankayane forfeited the match, granting Buffaloes a default 75-0 victory.
