E160 000 KIT WINDFALL
LOBAMBA - The quarter-finalists of the Ingwenyama Cup were presented with their kits yesterday for the highly-anticipated competition, which is set to resume tomorrow.
His Majesty King Mswati III, represented by Prince Bukhosi, adorned the teams with kits valued at E160 000, with each kit costing E20 000 and consisting of 30 pieces. This event took place during the Ingwenyama Cup kit presentation held at Nkhanini House at Lobamba.
During his address at the event, Prince Bukhosi urged the quarter-finalists to conduct themselves with the utmost decorum throughout the tournament. “Yours is to entertain us. Be at your best behaviour. We are appealing for violence-free games, as you have demonstrated in previous matches,” he stated.“The prince also conveyed his gratitude to the sponsor, Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF), for their support of the tournament and underscored that the competition has thrived under the King’s vision.
Appeal
“On behalf of His Majesty, we also appeal to supporters nationwide to attend the games, not only for soccer, but also for culture. “Please remember to exercise caution on the roads and refrain from drinking and driving,” he added.
Polycarp Dlamini, the Chairman of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), echoed the sentiment, urging clubs to encourage their supporters to attend in large numbers while upholding good conduct during the matches.
“Soccer and culture will be on display, and we wish to remind all supporters across the country to be at their best behaviour, both on the roads and in the stadiums,” Dlamini remarked. Meanwhile, SMVAF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Myeni expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s progression so far and reminded supporters to maintain discipline on the roads.
He further encouraged teams to continue spreading the message to their supporters about the importance of not drink-driving. “As a sponsor, our wish is to see no incidents recorded on the roads, and we are pleased with the soccer supporters who have assisted us in our vision,” he stated.
