HAYLEY HOY BREAKS 6 RECORDS

MONENI – Dolphins Swimming Club’s rising star, Hayley Hoy, has once again proven her dominance in the pool, smashing six records in just six days during the Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) National Championships.

The championships, which marked the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, were held at Enjabulweni School, starting last Tuesday and concluding yesterday. Hayley, the reigning Eswatini Junior Sportswoman of the Year for two consecutive years, broke three national records and three age group records.

Among her national achievements, Hoy shattered a two-decade-old 400m freestyle record, previously set by M. Spence in 2004, according to ESA records. She also set new national records in the 200m and 50m butterfly events, surpassing her own records from last year’s championships.

Excelled

The African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region V 2024 Sportswoman of the Year runner-up further excelled in her new age group, breaking additional records in the same events.

“I am very happy with my performances in these events as I managed to achieve new personal best (PB) times. I didn’t have much time to prepare for this competition, just about four weeks,” Hayley said.

For her outstanding performance, she was awarded the trophy for the best senior swimmer. In the men’s category, this accolade went to Dolphins’ Chadd Ning, who credited his success to rigorous training and a strong support system.

In the junior division, reigning Eswatini Sports Star and Junior Sportsman of the Year, Luca ‘GD6’ Fraser, delivered a standout performance. Meanwhile, Simanga Dlamini broke two records during the championships: one national record and one age group record in the 50m breaststroke event, achieving new PBs and improving on his previous season’s performances.
