MBABANE - Royal Leopard has achieved remarkable financial success, surpassing E0.5 million in earnings within a mere span of less than six months.

This impressive feat follows their promising start to the 2024/25 season, having claimed the first-round incentive of E100 000 and securing a guaranteed E650 000 as finalists in the Ingwenyama Cup. This brings their total earnings to E750 000 thus far this season, calculated over a period of just 176 days, from September 15, 2024, to March 10, 2025. The league commenced on September 15, while the Ingwenyama Cup semi-finals played on March 10, 2025, at Mavuso Sports Centre.

Leopard clinched the first-round bonus after a goalless draw against Green Mamba on January 11, 2025, at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium, where they were presented with a replica cheque for E100 000 for finishing at the summit of the standings after game 13.

In a recent turn of events at the Ingwenyama Cup, held at Mavuso Sports Centre on Monday, Leopard triumphed over Young Buffaloes with a score of 1-0, securing their spot in the finals of the prestigious Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) tournament. By virtue of reaching the finals, participating teams are assured of E650 000, while the champions will receive E1.45 million.

Should Edwin Matsebula’s charges emerge victorious in the Ingwenyama Cup, their total earnings could soar to E1.55 million, with the final match slated for later this month or early next month.

Currently, Moneni Pirates sit second in the season’s earnings, already entitled to E650 000. Mbabane Swallows and Young Buffaloes follow closely, each with E225 000 for reaching the semi-finals. The former lost 4-1 after penalties to Moneni Pirates. Frank Hurube, Royal Leopard’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Manager, emphasised that their primary focus lies not in financial gain, but in securing trophies.

“This reflects the hard work and commitment of the entire team. We extend our gratitude for the moral support from the national commissioner, management, technical staff, players and supporters. It is a collective effort to achieve what we have, yet our sights are firmly set on winning trophies. We will continue to strive for excellence until the season’s end.”
