WANDERERS OPPOSE 'BUCS' APPLICATION
MBABANE – Another twist!
This is the close to 10-month-old relegation saga involving the trio of Manzini Wanderers, Denver Sundowns and Moneni Pirates, which has seen the ‘Weslians’ filing a Notice of Intention to oppose at the Supreme Court yesterday.
The maroon and white hub giants, according to the court papers, want to oppose the application to review the judgments of February 19 and 20, 2025, which were before a panel of three judges at the Supreme Court.
Wanderers won the application for abandonment of the appeal, which was filed by the ‘Sea Robbers’ of Moneni regarding the judgment passed by Judge Mumcy Dlamini.
Her Lordship Dlamini had ordered that the verdict by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Appeals Board be reviewed and set aside. She further ordered the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) to include Wanderers in the ongoing MTN Premier League season.
Protest
This followed the EFA Appeals Board ruling in favour of Ikappa Kappa on the protest lodged by the ‘Weslians’, alleging that Jimoh Moses did not have a valid work permit during their relegation six-pointer match, which was played at Somhlolo National Stadium on May 19, 2024. The panel of the three judges, after hearing the submissions of the parties, ordered that the appeal by Pirates be abandoned and struck off the roll.
The trio of Moneni Pirates, Sundowns and Moses seek the court to review, correct and/or set aside the judgment of JA Matsebula delivered on February 20, 2025.
Alongside Judges Maphalala and Hlophe, in terms of the appeal noted by Pirates on October 19, 2024, which was deemed abandoned and struck off the roll.
This was confirmed by Wanderers’ legal representative from SM Jele Attorneys, who they are opposing the application by the trio, which was filed by their legal representative Azi Hlatshwako.
“We will file our grounds at a later stage,” the Wanderers representative briefly said.
Meanwhile, Hlatshwako confirmed receiving Wanderers intention to oppose their application to review.
