WOMEN FOOTBALL’S TOP 4 BATTLE FOR 2 SPOTS
MBABANE – “Our mission is to advance to the finals of this tournament.”
These were the words of Nsingizini Hotspurs Ladies head coach Tobias Ntuli during a pre-match press conference held yesterday at Sigwaca House, ahead of today’s highly anticipated showdown against Royal Leopard at 12pm. Ntuli exuded confidence, declaring his team ready for the challenge. “We are well prepared for our game against Leopard, and 80 per cent of our squad is injury-free and fit for battle. We know we are facing one of the strongest teams in the country, but our mission remains the same. We are determined to reach the finals, and we hope everything unfolds according to our preparations,” Ntuli said.
Leopard seem to be ready to pounce back to their opponents. Royal Leopard Ladies head coach Simphiwe Simelane echoed similar sentiments, affirming that his team was set for the clash, with a clear goal in mind - securing a spot in the finals. “Our focus is on qualification. We understand it won’t be an easy game, but the recent victory of our men’s team has motivated us. We want to follow in their footsteps and reach the finals. We are ready for Nsingizini, and we invite our supporters to come in numbers to cheer us on. We are also grateful for the opportunity to play on a separate day, allowing women’s football to gain more attention,” Simelane said.
Meanwhile, in the second fixture of the day, Green Mamba head coach Beatrice Hlophe emphasised the rapid growth of women’s football, urging fans to witness a thrilling display. “We are going to showcase fantastic football. Our team is prepared, and we promise our supporters a spectacular performance,” Hlophe stated.
On the other hand, Young Buffaloes Ladies head coach Wandile Shabangu said the team’s preparations had gone well, and morale was high. “We have done everything necessary for this match, and we are highly optimistic. We won’t disappoint our supporters. We invite them to fill the stadium and witness the exceptional football played by women,” Shabangu said.
