RDF TO LIGHT EFA TECHNICAL CENTRES
MBABANE – The Rural Development Fund (RDF) is set to floodlight the EFA technical centres.
His Majesty King Mswati III last week ordered the transformation of the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) facilities, whose construction was funded by the International Football Federation (FIFA).
The King has toured two of the four technical centres, while the fifth one is yet to be constructed.
The facilities visited include the KaLanga and Mkhuzweni Technical Centres, with the King’s Sobhuza II Stadium set to host his 57th birthday celebrations. In a speech delivered at Mpolonjeni Inkhundla, the Head of State made it clear that the facilities must have a lighting system by using funds from the RDF.
“All the stadiums that have been constructed with the support of FIFA, I have instructed the ministers that through this programme of the RDF, they must be lit up, and when I return, I want to find them already floodlit,” the King said.
transformed
The tour of the KaLanga Technical Centre was led by EFA Vice President and Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman, Polycarp Dlamini, who provided insights into the facility that the King wishes to be transformed.
Dlamini expressed gratitude to His Majesty for visiting the venues and appreciated the roadmap that the King provided.
“He emphasised the need to enhance the sports centres and include all sports disciplines as part of the mandate for all the centres he has visited,” Dlamini said.
He added that they will strive to work in the spirit of ‘nkwe’ to fulfil this royal call. It is worth noting that, according to the EFA’s strategic plan, the Siteki facility is set to be developed into a 500-seater venue.
On the same day as his speech, the King handed over various projects to 20 multi-purpose co-operatives valued at E114 million in the Lubombo Region, courtesy of the RDF.
