MAURITIUS DEFEATED AHEAD OF ESWATINI CLASH
MBABANE – The national team, Sihlangu, will face a Mauritius side that has recently suffered defeat, ahead of their fixture tomorrow.
Eswatini and Mauritius are set to clash at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, South Africa, vying for fifth place in Group D of the African 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) fixture is scheduled to kick off at 3pm.
However, Mauritius were on the wrong end of a solitary goal against Cape Verde on Thursday, making them the only team in the group to suffer a loss, as all other matches ended in draws.
Draw
On the same day, Angola and Libya played out to a 1-1 draw, while on Wednesday, Sihlangu and Cameroon also played to a goalless stalemate. The Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic’s charges remain at the bottom of the table with a single point, while Mauritius sit above them with four points accrued from the first round of the qualifiers.
Eswatini have a golden opportunity to leapfrog their opponents if they can secure a victory; however, a draw or a loss will see them continue to hold bottom position. In their previous first-round encounter, Mauritius managed to defeat Eswatini with a 2-1 scoreline.
