'BUFFS' NETBALL CLAIM SA TOURNEY
MBABANE – The Young Buffaloes Netball Team, formerly known as the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), clinched gold in South Africa.
The Buffaloes’ impressive victory came after a dominant performance, where they triumphed over Black Eagles with a score of 27-19 in the final match of the tournament in Johannesburg, this past weekend.
Seven teams participated in the competition, including the Chasers, Black Eagles, Pink Panthers, Underdogs, Unstoppable Forces and Harties, but it was the Buffaloes who reigned supreme across all their matches.
Determination
In their opening encounter, the Buffaloes dispatched the Chasers 34-17, displaying sheer determination. Their momentum continued in the second game, as they thrashed the Unstoppable Forces 40-13.
The team’s relentless spirit was evident in their third and final match, where they secured a 29-19 win over the Black Eagles to seal the championship and bring home the coveted trophy.
Team Manager Khula Ngcamphalala expressed pride in his team’s achievement, emphasising that the tournament was designed to empower the players by providing them with invaluable exposure and experience.
“We are extremely proud of our players for their dedication and hard work throughout the tournament. This victory is not just about the trophy, but also about boosting their confidence and preparing them for future challenges, particularly in the upcoming netball league back home,” Ngcamphalala stated.
Young Buffaloes showcased both skill and spirit on the international stage, making their mark as a force to be reckoned with.
