NOBUHLE NETS E90 000 IN ABSA LADIES INVITATIONAL
MBABANE – Eswatini’s golfing pride Nobuhle Dlamini continues to illuminate the international stage, clinching a fine fourth at the ABSA Ladies Invitational.
The tournament unfolded over three gripping days, at the Royal Johannesburg Golf Course, where the Lobamba-born star showcased her prowess in a field vying for a E1.2 million purse. The tournament concluded this past weekend.
Dlamini, (32), launched her campaign with a splendid four-under-par 68, steadied the ship with a one-under 71 on the second day, and sealed her effort with a deft two-under 70 in the final round.
Her 54-hole haul of 205 tied her with Czech Republic’s Tereza Melecka, pocketing her an estimated E90 000—a tidy sum from the E1.2 million pot.
England’s Thalia Martin emerged victorious, her steely one-under 71 in the finale securing an 11-under total and the lion’s share of E216 000. With her mother as a caddie, Martin’s maiden win was a touching tribute to her late father.
Norway’s Madelene Stavnar tripped with a double-bogey on the 18th, finishing level with France’s Anne-Charlotte Mora and Scotland’s Laura Beveridge at nine-under, each taking home E120 000.
