JUNIOR, 'MAGAWUGAWU' BOOST FOR CUP FINAL
MBABANE – Royal Leopard and Moneni Pirates are set to benefit from the return of key players ahead of Sunday’s highly-anticipated Ingwenyama Cup final.
This match is part of a thrilling day of finals at Somhlolo National Stadium, which also features Young Buffaloes taking on Nsingizini Ladies in the women’s final, alongside various cultural competitions, adding to the excitement. Moneni Pirates Public Relations Officer, Meluleki ‘Sluga’ Simelane, confirmed that four significant players are back in contention after missing last weekend’s matches due to suspensions and injuries.
“Our players are raring to go for the Ingwenyama Cup,” he stated.
Leading the charge are Captain Menzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane, goalkeeper Bernard Ayikwei, Nigerian striker Abdulmajid Aminu and Nkosinathi ‘Stina’ Shongwe.

“Stina has shaken off an injury and is back in training, while Magawugawu and Ayikwei have returned from their respective setbacks,” Sluga explained. Aminu, who missed recent matches to respond to an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Under-20 call-up from the Nigeria Football Association, is now ready to make an impact. However, there is less positive news for Pirates, as Lindani ‘Rio’ Matsenjwa will miss the final. He has received a two-match ban for accumulating yellow cards, marking his second suspension of the season. Having already served one match, he will be sidelined for Sunday’s clash. On the other hand, Royal Leopard’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Manager Frank Hurube expressed confidence in their preparations. “We’ve got a full squad working hard for the clash,” he remarked.
“Junior Magagula is back and training with the team after recovering from a muscle injury. The medical team is doing everything possible to ensure he is match-fit.”
Magagula missed Leopard’s recent 7-1 victory over Ezulwini United, but was seen encouraging his teammates from the stands. Released from the Sihlangu camp two weeks ago to recuperate, he missed the World Cup Qualifiers against Cameroon and Mauritius at Mbombela Stadium, but now he is eager to leave his mark in the final.
