DAD ARRESTED FOR RAPING, IMPREGNATING DAUGHTER (15)
MANZINI - A 41-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter.
The incident took place at Ludzeludze, where the man from Nsingweni was living with his teenage daughter and wife (the daughter’s stepmother).
According to a source close to the matter, the father purportedly raped his daughter several times over approximately two months, between November 2024 and January 2025.
The source alleged that one day, when the man’s wife was away, he asked his daughter if she had started having sexual intercourse. The teenage girl denied this, and the father then ordered her to lie on her bed so he could verify her virginity. “The daughter lay on the bed, but to her shock, she saw her father removing his trousers. Before she could understand what was happening, he forced himself on her,” the source alleged.
He claimed that the father initially used protection, but a few days later, he allegedly raped her without protection and this happened several times. Around December 2024, the teenage girl discovered she was pregnant after missing her period. However, the source alleged that the girl kept this to herself. He alleged that later, towards the end of March 2025, the stepmother noticed changes in the girl’s appearance and asked if she was in a relationship or having sexual intercourse.
“At first, the teenage girl denied it. However, her stepmother pressed her with further questions and threatened to tell her father she was having an affair. The girl then told her stepmother that it was her father who had sexually assaulted and impregnated her,” the source alleged. Following this, the stepmother reportedly took the girl to Matsapha Police Station, where the matter was reported and an investigation launched. The police investigation led to the arrest of the 41-year-old father.
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the arrest of a 41-year-old man in connection with rape cases reported by a 15-year-old girl, who is the accused’s daughter.
Violence
This incident occurs against a backdrop of concerning national figures regarding sexual violence. Recent reports indicate that at least two women are subjected to sexual assault daily in the country. A disturbing case at Dvudvusini involved the sexual assault of three young family members, including a two-year-old toddler. A 21-year-old relative reported the assaults, stating that the children, aged two, five and five, were forced into unprotected sexual intercourse within their home in January 2025. The suspect in this case remains at large.
These three minors are part of a group of 34 females who have reported sexual assaults in recent weeks. Notably, 17 of these assaults occurred during daylight hours. Further reports include a 19-year-old at Eteni, Matsapha, who was raped in her home on March 5, and a 17-year-old at Mahwalala, Mbabane, who was assaulted in her home on March 9. Siteki also reported two cases, involving a 14-year-old assaulted in a forest and a 16-year-old assaulted at the New Thulwane nurses’ home. Additional incidents occurred in Siphofaneni and Nkwalini, Mbabane, involving women aged 31 and 14, respectively.
In a separate legal development, a liSwati man residing in South Africa has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of his 14-year-old stepdaughter. The Nelspruit Sexual Offences Court delivered the sentence, withholding the accused’s name to protect the survivor. According to Monica Nyuswa, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Regional Spokesperson, DPP Mpumalanga, the survivor, originally from Eswatini, was brought to South Africa to escape alleged abuse. However, she was subsequently subjected to repeated rapes by her stepfather between February 2018 and September 2019.
The accused had told the survivor she was brought to South Africa for the purpose of sexual intercourse with him. The abuse came to light when the survivor sent her mother a message expressing her distress. In court, the accused denied the allegations, claiming the survivor was lying. However, the state prosecutor, Thembi Mabuza, presented compelling evidence, including medical reports confirming injuries. Magistrate Cloete found no reason to deviate from the prescribed minimum sentence, condemning the accused to life imprisonment. The court also ordered his name to be entered into the National Register for Sexual Offenders and declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
Addresses
“This sentence underscores the seriousness with which the criminal justice system addresses gender-based violence,” said Nyuswa. “Sexual violence not only violates the dignity and privacy of survivors, as protected by the Constitution, but also erodes societal trust. The NPA continues aggressively prosecuting these cases to ensure justice for all survivors.”
