MBABANE –The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has lauded His Majesty King Mswati III and all stakeholders for the resounding success of the recently-concluded Ingwenyama Cup.

The tournament, which culminated in a thrilling final this past Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium, has been hailed as a landmark achievement for Eswatini’s football and cultural identity.

In an official statement released on their Facebook page, the EFA extended profound gratitude to His Majesty King Mswati III, whose patronage lent a royal touch to the tournament, significantly enhancing its cultural and sporting significance. The King’s involvement, described as a seamless blend of Eswatini culture and football, transformed the event into a nationwide spectacle, solidifying its position as a cornerstone of Eswatini’s sporting calendar.

“The SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup serves as a powerful platform for promoting our nation’s rich cultural heritage, while simultaneously advancing our football on the global stage,” stated EFA. The association further emphasised the competition’s pivotal role in fostering national unity and acting as a catalyst for both sporting and economic growth, providing invaluable opportunities for local talent to shine on a broader platform.

These sentiments were echoed by Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman Polycarp Dlamini, who noted Their Majesties elevated the tournament to legendary status.

The statement also conveyed heartfelt thanks to a wide array of contributors to the tournament’s success, including Prime Minister Russell Dlamini, Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund, distinguished guests and the media. Their collective efforts ensured the competition was not only a sporting triumph, but also a momentous national event that resonated across all sectors of society.

The EFA further extended congratulations to the victorious clubs. These were Royal Leopard, Emajukujuku and Young Buffaloes Ladies.
