I want to clinch a contract- Darren!

MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows’ flying winger Darren ‘Dazza’ Christie this week embarks on a mission that might win him a contract in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League side Ajax Cape Town.
And in his last interview before joining 19 other trialists at the team training base at Ikamva, ‘Dazza’ has made a bold declaration about his desire to impress the club’s Dutch coach Foppe de Haan. He will fly tomorrow in an all expenses paid trip to Cape Town following an invitation by the club last month. He will be there for the whole week.
The Sihlangu player said he was going there to do what he knows best- which is playing football. He said he was not bothered by the big name players said to be part of the trials, but will be going there to fight to win a contract.
"Playing in South Africa could be a good move for my career.
I’m going to the trials to do my best and maybe get a contract. I will not do something that I don’t know but I will just be me," said the former University of Delaware student.
The player has had a good return to the country after spending about five years playing college football in the United States of America (USA).

He was a student at Alabama University before switc-hing to the New York University of Delaware where he won many accolades for his soccer skills. At one time he was named the Most Valuable soccer player in the college, and he also made the regional pick team. He said it is every player’s dream to play in a more professional league and said the PSL was among the top 10 best leagues he would like to play in.
Early this week Ajax Cape Town CEO George Comitis told South Africa’s Kick Off website that the Swazi international will be part of the 20 trialists that include other players from Namibia and Nigeria. He said there will also be the highly rated Nigerian forward Obinna Obinwogu present.
"There are also players from Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland. Our intention is to get the best talent available and hopefully we can get three or four good players from the trials next week."
The player will still have another opportunity to try out at another PSL side, Platinum Stars mid this month after he was invited by coach Owen Da Gama.
Christie, if he eventually impresses will join other Swazi players who include Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze (Santos), Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina (Orlando Pirates), Siza Dlamini, Taribo Bhembe, Felix Badenhorst, Phinda Dlamini (Jomo Cosmo) and Mzwandile Ndzimandze (University of Pretoria).
