Yuki' deserves to play for SA Pirates - Modise

NKONYENI – Inspite of warming the bench since his famous move, South Africa’s Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana midfield maestro, Teko Modise believes his team-mate and Sihlangu player Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina has an exceptional talent and deserves to wear the ‘black and white’ outfit of the Soweto Buccaneers.

Interviewed yesterday at Nkonyeni Golf course where he is horning his golfing skills while enjoying the festive holidays, Modise said he would like to continue playing alongside the Sihlangu midfielder.

This follows endless reports that the Swazi international might be put on the team’s transfer list in January as he has fallen out of favour with Pirates coach Rudd Krol.

"Yuki is a player I could choose for any game. He is talented and works hard. It’s just that it’s not all the time that one impresses the technical bench, sometimes it’s just out of luck. I believe in Masina," Modise said.

He said he believes Masina deserves to be given a chance to prove his worth at the Soweto giants. The dreadlocked winger appeared for Pirates after a lengthy spell on the sidelines during ‘Bucs’ last ABSA Premiership game against Platinum Stars which ended in a goalless draw. Modise said even though it was difficult for him to understand the pressure of foreign players as he had never played outside his home country, South Africa, he is confident that Masina’s time to shine was coming. Meanwhile, Masina said he believed that he was yet to show his best at Pirates. When asked on the transfer rumours, he said all he knew was that he belongs to Orlando Pirates and that he would continue to work hard. "I am happy that I have been in the first team in the last three games and I hope to continue working hard. It is just unfortunate that it is not all the time that one will impress the technical bench but my duty is to play to my level best," he said.
