MBABANE – Less than 50 badminton players attended the Badminton Swaziland (BSD) tournament on Saturday at Correctional Services hall.

The open tournament saw players from all the clubs battling it out. The winners were Nomcebo Maseko who beat Gugu Dlamini 2-0 in the ladies finals. In the male’s category, Dinani Vilakati won 2-0 against Thami Dlamini.

In the mixed doubles, partners Nomcebo and former president Simon Maseko beat Gugu and Thami Dlamini 2-0. The men’s doubles was won by Simon Maseko and Dinani Vilakati who beat Clifford Ngomane and Thami Dlamini 2-0.

BSD Executive Member and Officer Administrator Mbali Ginindza said the turnout was great even though they had expected more players.

"We are hoping to have more student badminton players coming through next year", said Ginindza.
