Mavimbela who was nicknamed ‘Maviks’ by his team-mates at Manzini Wanderers in the late 70s died last Wednesday after a short illness.
Mavimbela was praised by those who attended the funeral as someone who was kind and had a passion for the game of soccer.
They said he loved the sport with all his heart and would be missed in the football circles and also in the community as he was a humble man who was always willing to help where and when there was a need.
Speaking on behalf of Manzini Wanderers, Board of Directors member, Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini said Mavimbela was one of the people they relied on while he was still at Wanderers. He said Mavimbela always helped the team as he was once the acting coach.
"His football career started at a very young age. We are short of words to say how we feel about his demise. We wish his soul may rest in peace. We will dearly miss him at Manzini Wanderers," he said.
Dlamini said Mavimbela also helped Wanderers in recruiting players as he had his own team. He said they were still to benefit a lot from him. ... football officials no show at funeral
