End of the road for Yuki' at SA Pirates!
MBABANE – The end is nigh for Swazi international stri-ker Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina’s career at South Africa’s newly crowned Carling Black Label Cup champions, Orlando Pirates.
The Sihlangu player will be released or loaned from the team after failing to convince the technical bench. The former SuperSport player was loaned to Mpumalanga Black Aces last season.
Orlando Pirates Administrative Officer Floyd Mbhele said Pirates are trimming their squad as per the technical bench’s recommendations.
He was quoted in the ‘Bucs’ website, Orlando piratesfc.com.
"The management will continue to trim the squad this week as per the technical team’s recommendations and players regarded as surplus to requirements such as Dennis Masina, Thando Mdluli, Wilson Shendzelani and Fortune Nkumane to name just a few will either be loaned out or released," he said.
Masina could not be reached for comment last night as his mobile phone was switched off.
Orlando Pirates management have also exercised their option on Siphelele Mthembu’s contract by extending his stay for two more years. Mthembu, who spent the 2010/11 campaign on loan to Bloem-fontein Celtic, where he finished the season as the club’s top goal- scorer, will be competing for the team’s target-man position with SA national Under-23 scoring machine Bongani Ndulula and Malawian hit man Chiukepo Msowoya.
Masina was not part of the Orlando Pirates team that played in the Vodacom Challenge and the Carling Black Label Cup tournament on Saturday where they beat rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
