Ex-Swallows star, Eric Bisser arrested
MBABANE – Deregistered Mbabane Swallows midfielder, Eric Bisser was arrested on Friday.
The former South Africa’s Ajax Cape Town player was arrested for staying in the country illegally. He was deregistered by Mbabane Swallows at beginning of the month due to the foreign quota restrictions.
Bisser continued to stay in the country while his residential permit had expired. A source close to the matter confirmed that the player was released after paying an admission fine of E500.
The source said Bisser went to the Immigration Offices preparing to leave the country but was shocked when they arrested him.
"The player’s residential permit expired a long time ago and he got arrested on Friday. He pleaded guilty to the charge and he was freed after paying the E500 fine," the source said.
Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Wendy Hleta confirmed the arrest.
"There was a person by the name of Eric Bisser who was arrested for being in the country illegally. He pleaded guilty and paid a fine of E500," she said.
Bisser joined Swallows last season after having a short stint at Ajax Cape Town and Mpumalanga Black Aces.
