Yuki' hopes for the best
MBABANE – Swazi international Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina, who has refused to join his estranged South African side, SuperSport United in pre-season training, is hoping his move to join Orlando Pirates will materialise before the end of the day today.
Masina, this newspaper has gathered, will move to the ‘Soweto Buccaneers’ before the end of the day either in exchange of another player or complete buy-out of his current contract at ‘Amatsantsantsa A Pitori’.
According to an informed source, SuperSport United CEO Jose Ferreria and his agent, Walter Mokoena and Orlando Pirates CEO Floyd Mbhele were due to meet last night to discuss the transfer of the diminutive midfield-cum-striker.
“It’s almost a done deal and now it is just a matter of the deal being either in exchange of a player or Pirates simply buying ‘Yuki’ out of his contract,” our source said.
Reached for comment, Masina confirmed that the deal was almost done and was to be concluded last night.
“We have finalised everything and I made myself clear to SuperSport United that I am leaving and they held talks today (yesterday) and will be meeting again this evening (last night) and hopefully everything will be finalised by then,” Masina said.
Masina said he had had enough of watching from the sidelines, he didn’t even accompany the team to Port Elizabeth for the pre-season training.
“They left on Monday but I didn’t go there because I am looking forward to playing for a new team and new challenges,” he added.
