'Landers clinch admirable deal
EZULWINI – Mbabane Highlanders have a new technical sponsor after the expiry of their contract with Gree Air Conditioners.
The Black Bull signed a one season deal with a Matsapha based company called G-FOX, which has a link with Bidvest. The club will now parade in classy Admiral Sportswear starting on Sunday against Young Buffaloes.
The sponsorship was launched yesterday at Happy Valley Hotel where Admiral Managing Director Gary Baker, Sales Director Colin Farrer, National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa and Mbabane Highlanders Chairman Ngom’yayona Gamedze were present. The club has been wearing Adidas jerseys supplied by Gree for the past two seasons.
The sponsorship package include; playing kit, training kit, and tracksuits for the players and the replica sportswear, which will be sold soon.
Highlanders Chairman, Ngom’yayona Gamedze said this was one of the best things to have happened to the club. He praised Lucky Mahlalela for doing a great job for the club by securing the sponsor. He said as a club they really appreciated what he has done. "We are going to take care of the sponsorship as we are looking beyond the 12 months we have agreed on. Highlanders is one of the best team in the country as it is even supported by royalty as it has people like Prince Majaha.
We really recognised what you have done for us," he said. G.FOX Managing Director Rob Sparks said the company was opened in the country in October 2011 and they were dealing with protective clothing and cleaning equipments among others things. He said they were happy to be associated with a club like Highlanders. He said it was their mission to give back to the community. "We hope to enjoy the 12 months with Highlanders. They are a great team and we hope they will keep this sponsorship well. The company has employed close to a 1 000 Swazis. Admiral is one of the best brands," he said.
Lucky Mahlalela then urged the government to acknowledge such companies like G.FOX who helps Swazis. He said Highlanders were a team of the people. NFAS President Bomber Mthethwa urged Highlanders to take care of the sponsorship. He said they would like to see other teams securing such sponsors as they contribute to the improvement of soccer locally.
