Taribo' ready to lift cup without kicking a ball
MBABANE – Like Chelsea’s John Terry who lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy without touching the ball, Mbabane Swallows striker Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe is ready to do the same on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.
‘The Birds’ striker who will be watching the PLS/Swazi Telecom Ultimate Home Cup final against Young Buffaloes on the grandstands due to suspension, said he believes that Swallows will win the game and he is ready to lift the trophy.
He said it was unfortunate that he will be out due to the red card flashed to him by referee Thulani Sibandze in the semi-final against Manzini Sundowns for a rough tackle. Swallows won the game 2-0 to meet Buffaloes in the final. The army side kicked out Mbabane Highlanders 2-1 in the semi-finals.
"It is unfortunate that I will be watching the game from the grandstands due to the suspension. Just like Chelsea’s John Terry who lifted the trophy without touching the ball. I’m ready to join the team in celebrations," he said.
Bhembe said Swallows have a lot of good players who are capable of beating Buffaloes in the final. He said he believes Swallows will win the tournament without struggling against the army side.
"You cannot cry over spilled milk, I will not be playing in the final even if I wanted to. Swallows’ past performance easily made one to bet his money on them, not that Buffaloes are not a good side," he said.
The final will be played on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium, kick-off time 3:45pm. Fans will pay E40 to watch the game.
Before the final Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Sundowns will play the third place play-off that E50 000 at stake, starting at 1:30pm.
