Wanderers' star Pupu' on strike

The gifted playmaker is back to his off the field antics. This time he is staying away from the team’s activities in solidarity with his suspended elder brother, Xolani, who has been handed a three-match ban by the Manzini giants.

This has, however, not gone down well with team coach, Chiweshe who made it clear yesterday after the team’s shocking 2-3 defeat by a vastly improved Red Lions that he does not need both players in his team.

"I am done with both players. I just do not need them in my team anymore. I want to work with players who are ready to work for Wanderers. Can you imagine the trouble Pupu caused us today? I had included him in the team but he decided not to show up for camp.

"What is worse is that he never even bothered to inform me. I was only told by the team manager that he has decided to sympathise with his elder brother. Is Wanderers a family team? I certainly do not think so. I do not want to see the two of them. At Wanderers, there are players who can die for this team. These are the players I want to work with not youngsters who think that they are bigger than the club," he said.

Chiweshe noted that at this rate, both players will not realise their true football potential.

"I have coached and produced much better players than these two. What have they won for them to hold such a big team to ransom? I just do not need them. I have senior players like Sandile (Motsa), Sidumo (Shongwe) Lwazi (Maziya) and others who never give us such problems. Those are the players we will work with to improve this club," he said.

No immediate comment could be obtained from the Sikhondze brothers at the time of going to press yesterday.
