MBABANE – Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina’s move to Orlando Pirates received tremendous support from a number of football followers in South Africa.

The former Sihlangu skipper penned down a three year contract with the Soweto Buccaneers on Friday, and is set to appear for the team against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday in a league match.

Over 37 supporters responded to a question from online soccer publication Soccer Laduma, about Masina’s move to Pirates. Most of the supporters hailed the signing of the player, who they say has garnered enough experience to add depth in the already star-studded Rudi Krol coached side.

There were also messages from local fans who pledged their full support on the player who has followed in the steps of the dearly departed Tholeni Nkambule, in donning the famous black and white Pirates jersey.

‘Welcome ‘Yuki’ we Swazis are proud of you mfana, just continue working hard do it for us your family and your wife, your beautiful daughter, your sister Khosi, brothers boThulani, Hunter etc and remember we behind u 150%," reads one message from a Swazi fan.

Most of the messages however, urged the former SuperSport United, and Umtata Bush Bucks player to work harder to make the starting eleven at the Sea Robbers.

"I am a Chiefs’ fan but I congratulate Masina for his move. He is a very good player amongst many and he has the experience and ability that adds value and depth to any team. He will get a chance 2 play n we all enjoy good football. We know you will do well," said one reader.

There were few sceptics about the player’s move, with some saying he will fall in the same trap where the likes of transferred Thembile Kanono and Gilbert Mshangazike fell. The latter two were signed last year amidst great review but were shipped out after failing to cement their places in the team’s starting line-up.

However, the Sihlangu player has vowed to fight for his place in the team, in an interview with this publication. Masina was part of the Telkom Charity Cup winning team early this month, and even scored one of the penalties in the final against Platinum Stars.
