MBABANE – Over E60 000 was collected from Thursday’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup quarter-final replay between Manzini Wanderers and Royal Leopard.

The match was played at the Somhlolo National Stadium after the initial fixture was abandoned just before extra time due to floodlights failure.
The score was level at 2-2. However, Leopard won the replay 1-0.

“It was a well attended game especially because it was played on an awkward day and time but people still came in their numbers as we collected E63 000,” confirmed Swazi Telecom’s Head of Sales and Marketing Charles Ndlovu.

He said despite the violence that occurred immediately after the last whistle, the game recorded a good crowd and played to the end which is what they had wanted for the smooth running of the tournament.
However, he said such scenes were not commended in football despite the circumstances that may have led to such behaviour. Meanwhile, Wanderers’ coach Kenny Ndlazi was furious over the handling of the game saying it was played for only 60 minutes.
