MBABANE – Belgian trainer Kamiel D’Hyuetter took home in excess of over E30 000 while attached to the senior national team, Sihlangu.
He was here at the recommendation of his countryman the squad’s head coach Valere Billen.

The trainer, who received a warm welcome from the Sihlangu players with unfamiliar but enjoyable training methods, however only sat at the squad’s bench for only three official matches. This was during the disastrous Cosafa Castle Cup outing staged in Zambia about a month ago. It was during Sihlangu’s Group B games against the likes of Botswana, Kenya and Lesotho.

Insiders at the FA told this newspaper yesterday that the trainer was actually paid about E34 000 for his stay.
“You will recall that he was actually here for about three or four weeks before Sihlangu played Angola in the CHAN tournament. Despite the fact that the man could not travel with the squad to Angola, he had done his job.

“Actually, the Sihlangu players were in a poor physical state and he ensured that they would be fitter and leaner in no time at all. He really did a fantastic job on the fitness aspect of things and the FA executive was impressed,” he said.
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu declined to commit himself on the matter when reached for comment.

“Those issues are internal and are between the employer and employee. I cannot publicly discuss such matters,” was all Mngomezulu could say.
The Belgian came at the recommendation of fellow countryman Billen after having noted that the Sihlangu players’ fitness level was low. He completed the three-man technical team that also included assistant coach Harris ‘Madze’ Bulunga. The FA had stated in its budget report for the E5 million fund from government that they would pay Billen’s assistants E8 500 each per month.
