MBABAME – Former Sihlangu assistant coach Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini has fully supported the NFAS’ decision to extend Valere Billen’s contract.
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Executive Committee took a decision to allow Billen to lead the national side for another year on Thursday.

The former Mhlambanyatsi Rovers strategist, who wo-rked with Bil-len until early this year, felt that the Belgium-born mentor needed more time to transform Sihlangu into a formidable team.
“The FA has taken a good decision to keep Billen on board. A year was not enough to make drastic changes in the team. He is still trying to instil his philosophy into the team. He is a good coach and wants to develop the team wholly,” he said.

The coach’s future with the outfit was in serious doubt following a dismal showing in major competitions, especially the CHAN Qualifiers and the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Games last month. CHAN is the African Nations Championship.

Billen who is assisted by former Moneni Pirates coach Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga’ is currently home in Belgium as his mother is reportedly ill.
NFAS CEO Frederick Mn-gomezulu could only confirm that a decision to extend the coach’s contract was taken but said he could not divulge finer details.
“We can’t be sure when he (Billen) will return to the country as it depends on the condition of his mother,” he said.
