MBABANE – Malanti Chiefs’ midfielder Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko is undecided about his move to Mbabane Swallows.

Malanti Chiefs Director Dumisani Gumedze cleared the Sihlangu player to Mbabane Swallows after the player had verbally agreed to join Manzini Sundowns. In fact, the player had spent the past two weeks training with the ‘Kappa Boys’ and even featured in their international practice match against Piet Retief pick team over the past weekend.

The player finally broke his silence on the issue last night and stated that he was not involved when the Swallows deal was discussed. He revealed though that he had earlier intended to join Swallows, but upon showing no interest, he then set his sight on joining Sundowns.   “For now, I have requested to be excused from football matters due to some personal problems. I will decide my future once I return to training.

Even now I’m still not sure where I will be training. I am still going to meet with Malanti Chiefs Director Dumisani Gumedze. I once played for Swallows but Sundowns showed more interest,” he said. According to sources close to the matter, the former South Africa’s Black Leopards player was not part of the negotiations between Malanti Chiefs and Mbabane Swallows. The source said Nhleko had personally agreed terms with Sundowns.

Nhleko had been training with Manzini Sundowns for the past three weeks.
He was even given the jersey No. 10 in their friendly games against RSSC United and Piet Retief pick team. “Sundowns still had hope of signing the player after they had personally had agreements with him. He requested to be excused from the team for a week or two. Sundowns will wait for that time and start negotiations with him,” said the source.

Sundowns PRO Muzi Matsenjwa said they were still shocked by the news that he had joined Swallows. Matsenjwa said he left the team on Saturday after he requesting to be excused due to bereavement.

:We still believe it is a rumour that he was cleared to Swallows. We are still to meet and discuss the matter. Sundowns are a big team and no one is bigger than the club. If he had decided to go to Swallows, then we will move on.
“It is true we were interested in his services,” he said.
Matsenjwa said the matter was still to be discussed by the team.
