Congratulations Leopard!

In our last edition of this column, we wished that the better prepared club of the four that were participating in the grand finale of the 2013 SPTC Charity Cup Itak’seta Mo!! tournament should take the trophy home.

It did turn out that Ingwe Emabalabala; Royal Leopard were the better prepared team for the tournament. We wish to send our sincere congratulations to Royal Leopard for their success in this new season opener. They have an even bigger challenge of maintaining the form that they started the season with.

We would not be doing any justice to the tournament if we did not mention losing finalists, Young Buffaloes; semi-finalists, Green Mamba and Mbabane Swallows; Qualifier losers Manzini Wanderers and ourselves; the other 18 clubs that did not qualify for the qualifiers; the throngs of football supporters who supported the games on July 28 and August 11; the football supporters who cast their votes for their favourite clubs; the members of the community who participated in roadshows and community projects; and finally, SPTC, the sponsors, for their dedication to the tournament and football.

We take this time to congratulate all other winners that received awards last night at the Royal Swazi Sun Convention Centre. We look forward to an even bigger tournament in 2014.
Up the Bucs!!

Deserved

award to SPTC
We learnt with pride about the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSI) award that was received by SPTC the other night on the innovative manner in which the company runs the SPTC Charity Cup. It was a befitting award indeed. As a club, and hopefully speaking on behalf of most if not all of my PRO colleagues, we are proud to have been part of the efforts of SPTC for the past 12 years. It is innovation indeed to integrate football followers and clubs in the tournament to ensure that it touches the hearts and minds of the nation. We wish to congratulate the entire management and team at SPTC, in particular the Head of Marketing and Sales, Mr Charles Ndlovu and his team of hard working personnel for being recognised for their efforts. The work of the good never goes unnoticed, and this is a beginning of many good things to come.

Castle Lager Premier Challenge Roadshow

We will be part of the Castle Lager Top-8 tournament roadshow at the Jubilee Park in Manzini this morning. We urge our supporters to come in numbers clad in their ever beautiful replicas to support the sponsor, the club and the tournament. The day will start with a trophy parade at 9am from Total Garage, next to Tinker’s Restaurant.
This is another exciting development in our football that ensures that this football crazy nation is kept involved in the build-up to the activities of a football sponsorship.
The tournament officially kicks off on September 15,  2013. Never say you were not informed.\

Start of the Trade Fair Cup

Another exciting development is the kick-off of the SPTC sponsored Trade Fair Cup that is scheduled to start at the same time as the Swaziland International Trade Fair on August 30, 2013.
Now we can safely say that the good times in Swazi football are back. Are we about to relive the scintillating skills of old that were provided by this tournament? This is the tournament where many a young player were introducing themselves to the nation.
Players career were being revived in same. Many household names, including Sanele Gina, Johannes Lukhele, Dumisa Mahlalela  Bright Zondo, Themba Shongwe, Sipho Mdluli, Clement Mdluli, Nduku Mabuza, Mzandile Ma-buza, Dikiza Ndzabandzaba, Ma-tthews Mandlazi, Ronnie Dube, Alex Mamba, Pius Dube, Lloyd Maziya, Talos Masicane, Ricky Saulos, Turbie Terblanche, and many more, shone brighter into broader recognition by the nation.

Moneni Pirates are ready to unleash its young team against teams this year to set the right tone for the season to come.
Preparatory games
Last week we engaged in three preparatory games against Tambuti FC.

We are using these games to test and confirm combinations as we try to integrate the new and old of our players. We are greatful for the hospitality that we received from our hosts, Tambuti FC during the games. We met our objectives, and we are hopeful that they met theirs as well.Tomorrow from 11am, we will be engaged in another set of preparatory games at our training grounds at Enjabu-lweni High School against Imphumelelo FC from the National First Division league.

The intention is still to intensify our preparations for the new season. We invite our supporters to come and familiarise themselves with the club in these games. Why first division teams?
The intention is to try or perfect combinations, manage the peaking of the club and avoid straining of the muscles of the players too early in what will be a long season.
Up the Bucs!!
