‘Bomber’ graces E100 000 Correctional League opener
MBABANE – Matsapha Correctional Service took to the top of the Correctional Services League when after beating Malkerns 2-0 in yesterday’s grand opener.
The game was the part of the double header held at the Matsapha Correctional Services Sports ground.
Matsapha scored their goals through Sanele Dlamini and former Green Mamba striker Balindile Mabuza. In the second match, defending champions Manzini Remand Centre beat Nhlangano 1-0 to secure the second spot. Their lone goal that was scored a minute from the start by Babhekile Dlamini.
The games were officially launched yesterday in the presence of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa, Director of Sports Sipho Magagula and NFAS CEO Frederick Mngo-mezulu. They were guests to Correctional Services Commissioner Isaiah Mzuthini Ntshangase.
The league has 10 teams which are the institution facilities around the country. The league spokesperson Majaha Kunene said the games will be played every weekend.
“We are happy that finally the games kick-off. We only played two games this week as it was the official launch of the league. We are happy that all the four teams that played (yesterday) showed great commitment and good football,” he said.
The teams that are playing in the league include, Matsapha Remand, Manzini, Nhlangano, Mbabane, Pigg’s Peak, Bhale-kane, Malkerns, Big Bend, Mbabane Headquarters and Matsapha College.
Kunene said they will take a break this coming weekend as it would be the country’s National Elections. He said they will be back in action after the week break. He urged the teams to start preparing for the games.
