MBABANE – The country’s double gold medallist in the Zone VI Games Mcebo Dludlu has been awarded with a two-week trip to Ireland.

The 18-year-old athlete left the country yesterday for Ireland courtesy of his club, Manzini Athletics Club and Father Martin McCor-mack.
He was accompanied by his coach Muzi Mabuza. While in Ireland, Dludlu will have a chance to meet the 2012 Paralympics Gold Medallist holder Smyth Jason.

Dludlu won the two gold medals in the 100m T13and 200m T13 in the Zone VI Games held in Lusaka, in December last year. He had also dominated local track and field events. However, the athlete missed out in the Paralympics World Championships held in France in July.
Dludlu said he was happy with the trip and it will encourage him to put more effort and focus on the sport. He said the fact that he will get a chance of training while there and meet Jason, will make him see how professional athletes live.

He was interviewed while in Joha-nnesburg connecting to Ireland.
“I’m happy to get this opportunity. It will help me share ideas with other people. My club has shown its appreciation by making this trip possible. I would like to thank my coach Muzi Mabuza who had given his time to train us as athletes,” he said.
Dludlu said the trip will help him prepare for the Manzini track competitions to be held in September 21.

He said while in Ireland, there are lot of things they will learn. He said it was not only just a trip but a training session at the same time.
“The trip will help the athlete even spiritually. He would be in a different environment and this will help him prepare for international competitions,” he said.

He then thanked Father McCor-mack for making the trip possible.
Dludlu is part of the squad that was scheduled to compete in the African Junior Championships in July in South Africa.
