‘Samba’ must decide – Carmichael

MBABANE – Manzini Sundowns Chairman Mark Carmichael has said the club was ready to accept anything regarding embattled midfielder Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko.

And that is if the player who is caught in a transfer wrangle between Sundowns and Mbabane Swallows states his wish about the team he intends to join.
The player was last week said to have been cleared to Swallows by his former club Malanti Chiefs at a time when he was already negotiating a contract with the ‘Kappa Boys.’

Nhleko is now involved in a contractual dispute with his team as he claims to be out of contract while the team on the other hand claim that he was still contracted to them.
Sundowns boss Carmichael said his team has a good relationship with Swallows so he did not foresee the two teams becoming enemies because of this matter.

He said both the clubs’ chairmen have the potential of solving the matter amicably because of their vision about the game.
“The player is the one who must decide on which team he wants to join then it will be taken from there. Even, if he chooses Swallows, we won’t frustrate him but let him go,” Carmichael said.

He said he was very surprised to learn from media reports that the player was transferred to Swallows while their negotiations were at advanced stages.
Malanti Director Dumi-sani Gumede said as far as he knows nothing has changed as he had cleared the player to Swallows last week.
“I am the owner of Malanti Chiefs who hire the players so there is one who knows my players’ issues more than me. I met Swallows Chairman (Victor Game-dze) who was interested in the player and we both reached an agreement on the transfer. So, the player was cleared to them,” he said.

Last season, Sundowns also lost midfielder Hloniphani Ndebele to Mbabane Highlanders in an almost similar fashion.
