MBABANE – The MTN Premier League’s much-anticipated kick-off this Thursday is in limbo after two clubs requested postponement of their games due to CAF Club Licensing non-compliance.

The two sides are elite league returnees RSSC United and Umbe-lebele Jomo Cosmos who want their fixture slated for Thursday at Somhlolo National Stadium postponed as they cannot comply with the licensing standards yet.
As if that was not enough headache for the PLS, Moneni Pirates also filed a complaint over playing their game on Thursday night. All three sides want their fixtures stalled and pushed forward.

Of the CAF Club Licensing non-complying sides, only Umbelebele officially wrote a letter to the PLS, requesting the postponement of their fixture with RSSC. Pirates also confirmed their complaint to the PLS through MC Chairman Bhekisisa Zwane, who the club’s PRO Sifiso Masuku referred questions to.
RSSC only communicated their request telephonically but are expected to hand in their letter formalising the request this morning. Both sides’ PROs Mfanasibili ‘Bibi’ Mazibuko (Umbelebele) and Zamekile Mamba (RSSC) confirmed their plight. “We have officially written to the PLS asking for a postponement as we can’t meet the licence requirements yet,” said Mazibuko.

He said if they do not meet the requirements to get the licence, they cannot even register with the FA as the local football mother body has strictly said it would not entertain any club before satisfying itself that it complied with the set standards. Asked how long it would take them before they could meet the requirements, he said it was hard to say as they were currently requesting certain people to assist with some of the things needed.

His counterpart at RSSC United said they were also faced with the same problem. “We can’t register with the FA because of the club licensing issue and sinsing we’re clear that we won’t make it by Thursday, which is when we have to play, we need the postponement,” she said.
