MBABANE - Unsettled Mbabane Highlanders youngster Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze is on the verge of signing with ambitious side Manzini Sundowns.

The Sihlangu left-back started training with the Manzini based ensemble on Tuesday but he could not be part of yesterday’s proceedings as he was reportedly held up. He is expected at the team before the end of the week, insiders at the team have confirmed.

While talks are yet to be concluded, reports suggest the two parties are locked in serious negotiations over a possible transfer.
Sundowns PRO Muzi Matsenjwa also confirmed the presence of the versatile player at the green and gold outfit but was quick to state that there was no decision made yet.

“We can’t disclose we’ll sign him or not at this stage. I can only confirm that he is training with the team but there is nothing concrete so far,” he said.
The player said he could not shed light on the matter as it was handled by his agent Sipho Shongwe. The latter could not be reached for comment.
‘Sawa’s’ contract with Highlanders expired in June but Highlanders PRO David Litchfield, in a recent interview said  the player had a loan agreement with South Africa’s Vodacom League side Super Eagles. The capital city giants had loaned Gamedze to the team last season.

If the speedy defender eventually completes his move to Sundowns, he will be the team’s second major signing after the acquisition of controversial winger Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze from Manzini Wanderers last week.
