‘TARIBO’ CALLS IT A DAY!

MBABANE – Faltering Mbabane Swallows have suffered a major blow as their prolific striker Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe is hanging up his boots, bringing to an end an illustrious 10-year football career.
The former Sihlangu striker dropped the bombshell on Saturday, soon after their 1 – 2 MTN Premier League defeat to Manzini Sea Birds at Mavuso Sports Ground. The player informed his teammates, management and technical bench that he was quitting the team as he has received a job offer, not associated with soccer, in South Africa.
Bhembe when interviewed confirmed that he was on his way out of the team due to work commitments. The player explained that nothing was pushing him out of the team rather it was the job he had got.
The lanky striker is expected to leave the country this week to sort out some paperwork as he is expected to start on his new job next month. When asked on whether he will be available for some of the ‘Birds’ games, he said there was no chance to do so as his job is demanding.
“To be honest I am quitting football as I just want to concentrate on my new job. I think I have played my part as a football player and it is high time I prioritise on my future,” Bhembe said.
Swallows CEO Sibusiso Manana said the player has made the team aware of his job opportunity in South Africa.
“The player has reported that he has got a job offer outside the country and this is a once in a life time opportunity for him. It is no doubt that this is a huge blow for us as ‘Taribo’ is one of our key players in the team,” he said.
Manana said as a team they wish him all the best of luck in his new job as he has served in the team diligently and won many trophies with the side.
The player has, in the past weeks, been making headlines for all the wrong reasons as he was reported to have skipped camp for the National Arts and Culture awards ahead of their MTN Premier League game against bitter rivals Manzini Wanderers.
