RSSC UNITED CONDEMN HAPLESS MBABANE MIDAS CITY
LOBAMBA – Woeful defending cost Mbabane Midas City against an efficient RSSC United who have now steered clear of the relegation zone.
It was on the other hand a good start for RSSC new man in charge Happy Simfukwe who replaced Manfred Chabinga last week. Like they have done all season, Midas City were made to pay for a sluggish start allowing two headed goals in a space of seven minutes off each other. From a corner kick taken by Menzi Mamba 10 minutes into the game, Ncamiso Gina rose high to score from a free header the opener with defenders clutching at straws.
It was a goal that came from nowhere. The second one seven minutes later made a mockery of their defending. Overlapping RSSC United right back Maqhawe Motsa delivered a lofted cross that centre back Ndumiso Ndaba failed to clear, until Sibongo came from behind to head into the net. It was another costly blunder by the defence, and at the time they appeared far from making a comeback as their play was disjointed.
They did get few half chances which Mthunzi Mkhontfo and Samkeliso Mkhonta failed to utilise. The half time score was 2-0 in favour of the sugar belt side.
City finally came off the blocks in the start of the second half, and they had a ball in the net which was rightly ruled offside.
They continued to press their opponents hard and they were finally rewarded four minutes into the second half. Samkeliso was forced to play a short corner to left back Bongi Sibandze whose same time cross was flicked into the far corner by the ever alert Mthunzi Mkhontfo. It looked promising for Caleb’s charges thereafter, but another lapse in concentration, three minutes before the hour mark, saw former AmaZulu and Black Leopards striker Myrone Shongwe heading at goal line the third and final goal of the tie. Once again a cross was delivered by Thamsanqa Tibe on the left and Nyamane’s clearance was headed into the goal. There was no Midas City defender to thwart the danger as Shongwe headed into the empty unmarked.
There was no coming back this time, as the Mhlume based ensemble was now content with upholding their lead and bag three precious away points that took them to 22 points. City are rooted at the bottom of the log table with eight points.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Thamsanqa Tibe was pulling the strings in midfield playing alongside skipper Menzi Mamba. But the defence marshalled by Banele Dlamini had a good game too especially in the second half.
GOAL OF THE DAY: It has to be Mbabane Midas City’s lone goal by Mthunzi Mkhontfo. It was a typical team goal, as Samkeliso played a short corner to Sibonangaye whose first time cross was flicked into the net by the striker.
SAVE OF THE DAY: This one goes to RSSC United centre back Banele Dlamini who cleared a goal bound shot from Linda with the goalkeeper stranded. It was brave defending from the former Mhlambanyatsi Rovers player.
MOAN OF THE DAY: The sloppy defending by Mbabane Midas City made a mockery of the elite football brand. The school boy errors were infuriating and laughable at the same time.
MISS OF THE DAY: Mthunzi Mkhontfo failed to score at five yards after a well worked move by Khethokwahke Mkhontfo.
WEATHER: Partly cloudy and hot
CROWD: Less than 200
