ENTUTHUKWENI PRIMARY RUGBY TEAM OFF TO UK
MBABANE – A far-fetched, probably never-crossed-our-mind dream for 10 young girls of Entuthukweni Primary School of jetting off to the United Kingdom has come to reality, thanks to playing rugby.
The Under 13 girls 7’s rugby team from the school situated in Mbabane yesterday left the country by air en route to UK. They will be participating in the Touraid U-13 girls 7’s rugby tournament in which they will also be representing the country.
The tournament will be played at Allianz Park, home of the Saracen’s Rugby Club, and the girls will be in UK for nine days.
Adventure
This is also going to be an adventure filled trip. Swaziland Rugby Union (SRU) President Michael Collinson revealed that the team would also visit the home of British Prime Minister David Cameron on 10 Downing Street, London.
They will also be stopping by the Swaziland High Commission in London to pay their respects to the Swazi Ambassador to the UK.
The trip was facilitated by people at Touraid and SKRUM. “We thank everyone at Touraid and SKRUM for making it possible for the girls from Entuthukweni Primary to travel to the United Kingdom and represent Swaziland in the Touriad girls 7’s rugby tournament,” said Collinson during the farewell ceremony.
Also attending the event to see them off was Director of Sports in the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Sipho Magagula, who also had a few words to say to the team.
Magagula wished the team well, reminding the girls that they not only represented their school and the SRU, but also represented the nation.
He also urged them to play hard and come home victorious.
Collinson chipped in: “All eyes will be on you and your performance in the UK. Go there and make the country proud.”
