ST MICHAEL’S SPRINTERS SHOW DOMINANCE
MANZINI – St Michael’s Primary School sprinters yesterday dominated in the boys’ category during the Group B Manzini Inter-Primary Schools Athletics Competition.
The fast running lads from the school proved too strong for their competition during the exciting 4x100m relay as well as in other short sprint events where they either took pole position or were among the top three. In the relay, the boys from St Michael’s were on top of their game, showing runners from the other schools a clean pair of heals.
Inspired by their buoyant schoolmates who supported the with loud cheers, the quartet of Kagiso Malambe, Simphiwe Magagula, Garry Anderson and super fast finisher Manelisi Mkhatjwa, sprang to the finish like a hungry Leopard making strides towards its prey.
Manelisi crossed the line at 49.57 seconds, way ahead of the chasing pack, beating strong contenders Matsapha Government by a few seconds as they finished at 50:14 seconds, with Manzini Central coming in on third position in the Under 17 category.
St. Michael’s also took second and third spot in the 800m final for boys, whilst Simphiwe and Garry took first and second respectively in the 150m dash, meanwhile Kagiso and Manelisi came first and second respectively in the U-15 60m sprint.
