MBABANE – LaMgabhi Primary has won the SSSA Mbabane Branch Primary Schools’ Athletics Competition.

SSSA is the Swaziland Schools Sports Association. At least 11 schools stormed the Prince of Wales Ground in Mbabane yesterday for the championships.  Despite facing stiff competition from the pair of Fonteyn and St Mark’s, LaMgabhi was declared the champion with 64 points by Branch Secretary Siphesihle Simelane.

The competition featured Under-13s and Under-17s. The outstanding Under-17s will compete with their counterparts from high schools on March 18 for a place in the Confederation of Southern Africa Schools Sports Associations (COSASSA) championships in December.

Athletes from the participating schools gave their all on the rain-soaked track and Simelane said the event was a success.
“The next stop is the high schools eliminations at Somhlolo National Stadium next week,” Simelane said.
