MORE THAN POINTS AT STAKE IN HUB DERBY
FIXTURE: Sundowns vs Wanderers
VENUE: Mavuso Sports Centre
TIME: 4pm
Never have the two hub giants met in recent times in a match that has so much at stake. Both Manzini Sundowns and Manzini Wanderers are part of the ever-swelling title chasing pack and the winner of this afternoon clash would have a lot to savour in as far as challenging for honours is concerned.
Kenny Ndlazi, the man credited for laying the foundation at Sundowns, will lead his resurgence Manzini hopeful of annexing the big one this time. They failed under three coaches in 2010/11 season to Green Mamba but the South Africa-born mentor has brought in renewed hope for glory. He has with minimum resources managed to solidify the club which now plays more as team than individuals.
In Sundowns he faces a club that has just lost its coach, Mpendulo Ngwenya, and in Dominic Kunene they have someone who is still in the mission of proving a point that he is worth the fulltime coaching position. He will bank his hopes on former Wanderers darling Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze.
The dribbling wizards has a bagful of tricks to unlock any resisting defence and playing alongside the experienced Reagan Steenkamp and Goodwill Magagula has made things easier for him. Ndlazi will pin his hopes on the lanky midfielder-turned striker Sandile ‘Theo’ Motsa to do the business at this crucial moment of the season. He needs the three points, ahead of another exciting encounter against defending champions Mbabane Swallows in the next match.
