HIGHLANDERS E50 000 RICHER!
MBABANE – National First Division League giants, Mbabane Highlanders are already E50 000 richer after qualifying for the SwaziBank Cup semi-finals.
The black and white outfit stand to pocket E40 000 in the event they bow out of the last four stage after qualifying, the past Sunday, by beating elite league side Moneni Pirates 6-5 after penalty shootouts.
According to the rules and regulations of this year’s Kusenjalo Washa-Thu edition, the two teams to bow out in the semi-finals stage will pocket E40 000. By virtue of plying their trade in the National First Division League, Highlanders will also be awarded a sum of E10 000 for the Best Finisher Award.
The black and white ensemble are the only First Division side left in the tournament after Imphumelelo FC bowed out in the quarter-finals. Imphumelelo lost their quarter-final encounter against army side Young Buffaloes 1-0 on Saturday at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Team Assistant PRO, Paul Masilela said their aim as a team was to go all the way in the tournament and reach the final.
“I can safely say that we are ready for the challenge ahead. We will do our level best not to disappoint our supporters, who are behind the team. They should continue rallying behind their club by coming in numbers for the games. We are, however, ready to meet any team in the semi-finals,” Masilela said.
SwaziBank Cup Management Committee (MC) Secretary John Mazibuko urged the soccer lovers to continue supporting the games. Mazibuko revealed that the semi- finals will be played on Sunday at Somhlolo after a draw, which will be conducted today.
The stage is set for the semi-finals this weekend. The last four games will be played at Somhlolo National Stadium and the MC is expected to release the fixture tomorrow.
The tournament’s Under-20 games will be played on Saturday at the same venue.
