MBABANE – Swazi Plaza Properties is the main sponsor for the national angling team ahead of the Zone VI Championships.

The Swaziland Angling Association (SSA) will host the Zone VI Black Bass Championship between September 8 and 12 this year at Maguga Dam in northern Hhohho. Swazi Plaza has pumped in money as well as presented a full kit consisting of golf shirts to the national side valued at over E40 000. The presentation was made at Ocean Basket at the Corporate Place in Mbabane last night. Swazi Plaza’s Marketing Manager Gugulethu Mswane said her company was proud to join hands with the association to help them host a successful event.

“It’s part of our social responsibility. We’re proud to sponsor such a big sporting event,” Mswane said. Team Interim Manager Derek Hopf was grateful for the kind gesture and assured that the side was looking forward to leave a mark in the championship like in previous years. The country won a gold medal in 2008 and the following year.

Hopf further announced a team that would do battle in the championship that is made up of seasoned anglers like captain Louis van Zuydam, Dave Wright, Manny Rego, Mickey Figueiredo, Ed Boxshall Smith  and Sydney Chambers.
Teams will consist of 12 anglers and one reserve player and will be using conventional rod, reel and tackle. Participating countries will include South Africa, Zambia, Namibia and Mozambique. Ocean Basket also partnered with SAA last night in the raffle tickets.
