HIRE NEW SNSC CEO – SENATE TELLS ‘CRUISER’
LOBAMBA – Senators have urged Minister of Sport, Culture and Youth Affairs, David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala, to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Swaziland National Sports Council (SNSC).
It has been almost two years since predecessor and now Sports Coordinator at His Majesty’s Correctional Services, Dan Mavuso left after his contract was terminated and he has not been replaced.
Meanwhile, acting CEOs have been interchanged including SNSC Finance Officer Zama Tsabedze, and current acting CEO Darius Dlomo.
Dlomo has been acting for more than six months, meaning he can now legally force government to a binding contract.
Senate Deputy President Ngomuyayona Gamedze was the one to touch on this issue.
He said he was worried that there still was no replacement after such a long time since Mavuso was unceremoniously fired from the council.
He also wondered how the ministry would manage to remove Dlomo from the hot seat after letting him act for more than the mandated time by local labour laws, which meant that now he was in a position to stand his ground and not agree to be relieved of his duties and have a legal standing.
“I want to know why the minister had not appointed a permanent CEO at the Sports Council. The current CEO has acted long enough and he might not want to be easily pushed aside because legally he would be right to want to be permanent and can even be successful in court. The minister should hire a new CEO, and you might as well hire the current one,” said Gamedze.
The minister, who was accompanied by members of the SNSC in CEO Darius Dlomo, Finance Officer Zama Tsabedze, FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu, Ministry’s Director of Sports Sipho Magagula, Principal Secretary Sicelo Dlamini and Under Secretary Maswazi Shongwe among others, was told to provide his responce in writing by 3pm yesterday.
