SHUT UP, SWALLOWS WARN CHIEF KEKELA

MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows have reacted strongly to startling allegations by Senator Chief Kekela in Parliament.

The senator alleged that one elite league team was running the show at the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS).  He, however, did not name any team in his submissions. This was during the Sports Portfolio Committee seating in the august House last Friday. Swallows have, however, come out with guns blazing, arguing that the senator was taking pot shots at the PLS Chairman Victor Gamedze, who is also the red and white glamour giants’ boss.
The team’s acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sibusiso Manana said the senator was abusing his privilege of being a senator.

“Can you believe it that this man is also a PLS Board of Governor himself but he has not bothered to raise any of the jokes he was raising in Parliament. What should the minister really investigate? Is the man still hurting that we beat his team 8-0 in the SwaziBank Cup? Who is he trying to impress really? As a team, we feel people are taking advantage of the fact that our chairman does not talk to defend himself and the organisation because of his status in society.

“We will not allow people to discredit the team’s chairman because of their own shortcomings and failures in life. This has gone on for far too long and we feel it must be stopped. It is unfortunate that this man is attacking an organisation that is being run by someone who has been through every stage of the game. Our chairman has played football and did so at the highest level because he played for the national team. He also represented the country on numerous occasions in athletics at a top level before graduating into administration. It is not by chance that he is leading the PLS. He is a sportsman through and through,” a fuming Manana said.

Manana said they would understand better if the senator was discussing politics and not football because as far as they were concerned he (chief) is a layman in football matters.
“The man even goes to the extent of making allegations against a certain club that it also switches off the Somhlolo lights during games. He may not have mentioned any name but as Swallows we strongly suspect that he is referring to us. The last time lights went off at Somhlolo, we were involved and one wonders how we could have switched them off when there was a team which was on record saying they did not want to play at Somhlolo,” Manana said.
